“New synthesis methods and coating techniques for the enhancement of electrochemical behaviour of Na3V2O2(PO4)2F compound”

Paula Serras

(BCMaterials)

Sodium vanadium fluorophosphates have recently shown very good electrochemical performance vs. Na/Na+ providing high working voltages (3.6 and 4 V vs. Na/Na+) and good specific capacity values near to theoretical ones (130 mAh/g).

“Enhanced CT emission in Polyimides by Cyano-groups doping”

María San Sebastián

(BCMaterials)

Alternating different monomers, donor-acceptor conjugated polyimides (PI) are successfully synthesized by chemical imidization through in situ silylation of diamines. A detailed photophysical characterization is performed in the pure monomers and different polymers in tetrahydrofuran solutions.

“Enhanced magnetic nanostructures for biomedical applications”

Javier Alonso

(BCMaterials)

Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) are of great interest for a wide variety of applications, ranging from magnetic recording and data storage to biomedical engineering. Due to their small and controllable sizes (5–100 nm), the MNPs can easily interact with biologically interesting entities.

“Thermally Induced Solid-State SCSC Transformations Promoted by Gradual Dehydration in a Highly Porous Polyoxovanadate Hybrid”

Jagoba Martín Caballero

(BCMaterials)

Solid state single crystal to single crystal (SCSC) transformations of coordination polymers (CP) have recently acquired a remarkable attention and they turned out to be a promising research field in material science.

“Energy harvesting device based on a metallic glass/PVDF magnetoelectric laminated composite”

Andoni Lasheras

(UPV/EHU)

A flexible and low cost energy harvester device based on the magnetoelectric (ME) effect has been designed using Fe64Co17Si7B12 as amorphous magnetostrictive ribbons and PVDF as the piezoelectric element. Sandwich-type laminated composite of 3 cm long has been fabricated by gluing these ribbons to the PVDF with an epoxy resin.

“Magnetic transition induced by mechanical deformation in Fe60Al40-xSix ternary alloys”

Estibaliz Legarra

(BCMaterials)

Mechanical deformation is known to induce disorder in completely ordered Fe-Al alloys. This effect produces a strong increase in the magnetic properties of these alloys and may even induce ferromagnetic transition in ordered paramagnetic alloys.
