Prof. Hariharan Srikanth elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS)
Prof. Hariharan Srikanth, one of the closer collaborators of BCMaterials, has been elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) by the APS Council in November 2014. He is recognized for his important contributions to the experimental studies of magnetization dynamics and novel physics in complex nanocomposites.
Javier Alonso Masa, winner of one of the 2014 MMM Best Poster Awards
Javier Alonso Masa has been awarded with the 2014 MMM Best Poster Award Winner of the session: FeCo nanowires for enhanced magnetic hyperthermia. "Magnetic hyperthermia mediated by magnetic nanoparticles is one of the most promising techniques for cancer treatment. By injecting nanoparticles inside the tumor area and applying an external ac magnetic field, one can make the nanoparticles heat up, and destroy the cancer cells in a localized way.

Bioinspired Materials
The most complex hierarchically organized chemical structures (e.g., from the nanoworld of proteins to the macroscopic structures of oyster shells, bone and enamel, among others) can be found in nature. This is why the imitation of Nature has called the attention of numerous research groups during the last years.Pics from the workshop "New Materials for a Better Life" 2013
