A Hundred Attendees Examine the Path of Technological Transfer in Advanced Materials
Around 100 attendees met at a new edition of the annual BCMaterials workshop, New Materials for a Better Life! The event, held on November 27 at our center's headquarters, focused on technological transfer and innovation applied to advanced materials. The program brought together leading experts in the field, from institutions responsible for developing policies, to companies, research centers and entrepreneurs who presented their success stories. All of this without forgetting, of course, the agents and entities responsible for providing the tools to facilitate said technological transfer.
The opening session of the workshop was chaired by the scientific director of BCMaterials, Senentxu Lanceros-Méndez; the director of Technology Transfer of the UPV/EHU, Nagore Tellado; and the director of Research of the Department of Science, Research and Universities of the Basque Government, Amaia Esquisabel.
The first block, entitled “General framework for innovation in materials science and technology”, was then opened, with the presence of María José Tomás, from the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), and Amaya Igartua, coordinator of Materials Initiatives at TEKNIKER and co-secretary of the European Materials Platform (EUMAT) and the Alliance for Materials (A4M). This block also included the participation of speakers Senentxu Lanceros-Méndez and Amaia Esquisabel.
The second block dealt with the tools that facilitate technology transfer and innovation policies. The Basque Agency for Innovation - Innobasque, the UPV/EHU, the SPRI, the Network of Technology Parks of Euskadi, BRTA (Basque Research and Technology Alliance) and the Functional Print Cluster were the institutions represented by Alaitz Landaluze, Nagore Tellado, Amaia Martínez, Rikardo Bueno and Susana Barasoain, respectively. New Materials for a Better Life! closed its edition with success stories from companies, technology centres and entrepreneurs such as Graphenea (Beatriz Alonso), Fuelium (Juan Pablo Esquivel), Biolan Health (Larraitz Añorga), UPV/EHU (Óscar Castillo) and Lanzo Batteries (Jesús Marcos).
The third block of the workshop offered as a final touch an interesting round table with the participation of Innobasque, BRTA and Biolan Health. The table served to round off with new reflections and conclusions a successful edition of the workshop, whose main objective was to present the existing resources at Basque, national and European level so that researchers in advanced materials can advance in the technological transfer of their innovative proposals.
