David Payno, New Doctor of BCMaterials
We want to congratulate David Payno Zarceño, pre-doctoral reseracher of BCMaterials, for becoming new doctor on 29th April.
David made an excellent defense of his thesis called "Improving kesterite for its use in low-cost superstrate solar cells".
This is the culmination of a great work carried out in all these years in our center. Congratulations, David!
BCMaterials Annual Report 2021
BCMaterials Annual Report 2021 is already available in our website https://www.bcmaterials.net/transparency/.
The report reflects how 2021 was an excellent year for our center in terms of scientific discoveries and applications, research outputs and increasing figures of merit.
Daniel Domenech, New Pre-Doctoral Researcher
Daniel Domenech Azorín joined BCMaterials as a new Pre-Doctoral researcher.
Daniel will work on current induced magnetic domain walls in nanostructures and thin films with José María Porro, Ikerbasque Research Associate.
Welcome, Daniel!!
Three New Visitor Researchers at BCMaterials
Three new visitors have begun their research stay at BCMaterials in early April: Rita Policia, Luca Andreo and Mahdi Gassara.
Rita Policia, coming from Universidade do Minho in Portugal, will work on printable electroluminescent and electrochromic materials and devices.
BCMaterials Research Professor Stefan Wuttke, among the scientists awarded with the HFSP (Human Frontier Science Program) grants
An international and interdisciplinary team of scientists, comprising Stefan Wuttke, Ikerbasque Research Professor at BCMaterials, and Steven Boxer from Stanford University (USA), has received a prestigious three-year Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) Grant.
BCMaterials co-organizes of IMoH2022, international meeting on the challenges and opportunities of compact neutron sources
- From June 20 to 22, the event will bring together some of the leading European experts in neutron sciences
- The UPV-EHU Campus in Leioa, venue for the international meeting
- First meeting in Spain dedicated monographically to the HICANS, compact facilities that access to experimentation with neutrons for scientists and students
Sheila Maíz, new Post-Doctoral Researcher
Sheila Maíz Fernández re-joined BCMaterials as Post-Doctoral Researcher. Sheila, who developed her PRe-Doctoral period working at this center, got her PhD in December 2021. She defended the thesis named "Development of in situ forming, polysaccharide-based self-healable and printable hydrogels for soft actuators and biomedical applications”.
Sheila will work in the new line of Neurobioscience, within the IKUR strategy, promoted and funded by theDepartment of Education of the Basque Government.
Bruna Gonçalves, New Post-Doctoral Researcher at BCMaterials
BCMaterials welcomes Bruna Gonçalves, new Post-Doctoral researcher. Bruna joins our Center in the framework of the IKUR Strategy, developed and funded by the Basque Government.
Bruna will develop her research within the IKUR strategic area of NeutrIonics, applied to Smart and Multifunctional Materials.
Two new visitors at BCMaterials
BCMaterials welcomes two new visitors, who will be in our Center for the next three months: Levent Köroğlu and Fabio Rodrigues. Levent Köroğlu, who is visiting BCMaterials to develop his research on enhancing functional properties of polyvinylidene (PVDF) copolymers-based composites. Levent is a Research-Assistant at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the Eskişehir Technical University, in Turkey. Fabio Rodrigues' research is about the development of 3D-printed scaffolds with patterned morphologies for tissue engineering and cells regeneration applications.
BCMaterials to organize "Women + Science = A Journey Through Time"
BCMaterials, the Basque Center on Materials, Applications and Nanostructures, presents "Women + Science = A Journey Through Time", an initiative that is part of the International Week of Women and Girls in Science. This event will be held on February 10 and 11 and will bring together students from different schools in Bizkaia (Basyqe Country). An interesting exhibition and the possibility for the students of making their first scientific poster are the attractions of this initiative.
