Online seminar BCMaterials Adrià Gil Mestres
You are invited to attend to the online seminar “ Computational Studies on NanoBioMaterials” given by Dr. Adrià Gil Mestres.
Dr. Adrià Gil Mestres (AGM) graduated in Chemistry from Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV, Tarragona 1999) and completed his PhD in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, he is currently working at CIC-Nanogune in Donostia, San Sebastian.
High Gain High Risk projects
On 12th of May you are invited to attend to an internal mini workshop for the High Gain High Risk winning projects from 2020.
The PI from each project will present briefly the project and will evaluate the feasibility of the technology, the future steps and the experience participating in the HGHR call.
Here is the link to attend (the workshop will be fully online):
Fortnightly seminar online: Conductive MOFs: New design strategies and applications by Jacopo Andreo
Conductive MOFs: New design strategies and applications
Electrically conductive MOFs are a new class of materials that present unique combinations of properties. In this short talk I will briefly introduce the topic and discuss our work regarding two different typologies of materials in this field. The first concerns 3D conductivity through delocalized bonds, a novel concept for conductive MOFs, and the synthetic challenges in obtaining these materials.
Fortnightly seminars online: Dielectric Materials for Electrical Energy Storage by Qi Zhang
Dielectric Materials for Electrical Energy Storage
Antiferroelectric (AFE) ceramics have shown great potential for applications in pulsed power capacitors because of their fast charge-discharge rates (on the order of nanoseconds). However, to date, it has been proven very difficult to simultaneously obtain large recoverable energy densities Wre and high energy efficiencies η in one type of ceramic, which limits the range of applications of these materials.
Fortnightly seminar online by Ruben Teijido & Mikel Rincon
Current trends on layered inorganic-polymer nanocomposite coatings for anticorrosion applications: identification of problems and proposed strategies to solve them
The fight against corrosion problematic is growing stronger each day due to an ever-increasing demand for using marine environments and its resources. The development and manufacture of advanced hybrid polymer-inorganic layered anti-corrosion coatings is a trending topic focusing a fair amount of scientific interest.
Fortnightly seminars online: Deciphering the impact of electrical charges on cell behaviour by Sara Martin & Integration of multifunctional materials in POC devices by Joseba Totoricaguena
Deciphering the impact of electrical charges on cell behaviour
Piezoelectric materials, that is materials that generate an electric current when mechanically loaded, are of interest for various applications, including biomedicine. In fact, electrical stimulation is known to regulate a number of physiologic processes, ranging from bone forming to endothelial cell homeostasis.

Discovering the Nobel Laureates: The Nobel prize of Physics 2020
Do you want to know more about the impact and importance of the discovery that has won the Nobel prize of Physics?
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2020 was divided, one half awarded to Roger Penrose "for the discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity", the other half jointly to Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez "for the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the centre of our galaxy."
Francisco Frutos Alfaro Director of the Space Research Center at the University of Costa Rica will explain us some of the effects predicted by the general the
