Prof. Hariharan Srikanth elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS)

Prof. Hariharan Srikanth,  one of the closer collaborators of BCMaterials, has been elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) by the APS Council in November 2014. He is recognized for his important contributions to the experimental studies of magnetization dynamics and novel physics in complex nanocomposites.

Javier Alonso Masa, winner of one of the 2014 MMM Best Poster Awards

Javier Alonso Masa has been awarded with the 2014 MMM Best Poster Award Winner of  the session: FeCo nanowires for enhanced magnetic hyperthermia. "Magnetic hyperthermia mediated by magnetic nanoparticles is one of the most promising techniques for cancer treatment. By injecting nanoparticles inside the tumor area and applying an external ac magnetic field, one can make the nanoparticles heat up, and destroy the cancer cells in a localized way.

“State of the Art on New Materials” Seminar series starting November the 8th

It is our pleasure to announce the “State of the Art on New Materials” Seminar series starting November the 8th, as part of our MSc on New Materials. 8 Nov 2012: Francisco del Monte (Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid, CSIC, Spain) Bioinspired Materials The most complex hierarchically organized chemical structures (e.g., from the nanoworld of proteins to the macroscopic structures of oyster shells, bone and enamel, among others) can be found in nature. This is why the imitation of Nature has called the attention of numerous research groups during the last years.

IEEE Distinguished Lecturers in BCMaterials Invited Talks

Next friday 20th BCMaterials and ZTF-FCT University of Leioa presents a IEEE Distinguished Lecturer: Rudolf Schaefer Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research (IFW), Dresden, Germany Rudolf-Schaefer Magneto-Optic Analysis of Magnetic Microstructures The rich world of magnetic microstructure or magnetic domains, extending from visible dimensions down to the nano-scale, forms the mesoscopic link between the fundamental physical properties of a magnetic ma
