BCMaterials joins the Emakumeak Zientzian initiative
BCMaterials has participated since this year as one of the coordinating entities of the Emakumeak Zientzian (Women in Science) initiative. As a result of a collective effort, Emakumeak Zientzian annually develops an extensive program of activities around the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This year Emakumeak Zientzian reaches its eighth edition offering more than 60 activities including visits, workshops, talks and round tables, exhibitions, film screenings, STEM training...
The program of activities is available on the Emakumeak Zientzian website https://emakumeakzientzian.eus/es/programa-2024/. These activities are aimed at all types of audiences: students, women from specific groups (teenagers and those over 55 years of age), families, professionals in the scientific and technological field and also the general public. Registration is free and is open from January 17 until the capacity for different activities is reached.
The Emakumeak Zientzian collective is made up of 32 entities related to scientific and technological research in the Basque Country: from universities to research centres, foundations for the development of science... It also has significant institutional support at the Basque and state level, as well as from private entities.
Highlighting the female scientists’ work
Emakumeak Zientzian's main goals are to highlight the work of women scientists, break stereotypes regarding gender roles and promote scientific-technological vocations among primary and secondary school students mainly.
This is framework in which BCMaterials will organize its annual activity. It will take place on February 14 and 15, and it isaimed at educational centers. Female scientists from BCMaterials will show the work they do in new materials science related to the environment, energy, health and emerging technologies. During the visits, the students will be able to experiment with our scientists and learn about the day-to-day work of their work.
