Scientific and Participation Success for IMOH 2024 Conference
From 15 to 17 October, the BCMaterials headquarters hosted the second edition of the ‘IMOH 2024, 2nd International Meeting on Challenges and Opportunities for HiCANS’ congress, dedicated to neutron science and industry. More than 80 scientists from Europe, America and Asia examined the evolution of projects and ideas for the construction of HiCANS (High Current Accelerator-driven Neutron Sources). These medium-sized facilities are set to revolutionise neutron testing in materials science.
BCMaterials Launches the 'Materials for Society' Initiative
In October, BCMaterials laid the first stone of the ‘Materials for Society’ initiative. This scientific, cultural and social project aims to explore the involvement of science with the most diverse aspects of society. The first event, the first stone of ‘Materials for Society’, took place with the talk/colloquium ‘‘La Física y las palabras, las dos pasiones de José María San Juan’, held in the auditorium of the Martina Casiano building, headquarters of BCMaterials.
Great success of the "Sustainable Materials for Energy Production” workshop
In August, the "Sustainable Materials for Energy Production" workshop took place in Mexico during the 32nd International Materials Research Congress (IMRC). It was organized by the Mexican Society of Materials (SMMater) and the European Material Research Society (E-MRS), with the support of BCMaterials, among other entities. The event brought together more than 480 participants for three days, who attended a very interesting program with 11 guest speakers, 21 oral presentations and 10 short talks.
GERSEQ44 Conference Brings Together more than 200 Electrochemistry Specialists in Leioa
From July 3 to 5, more than 200 international specialists in electrochemistry gathered at the 44th Meeting of the Specialized Group in Electrochemistry of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ). BCMaterials and the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) organized the conference under the acronym GERSEQ44.

Invited talk by Javier Vela on May 17
BCMaterials will offer a new invited talk on May 17, by Dr. Javier Vela, Professor of Chemistry at Iowa State University (USA).
The talk, will take place in the auditorium of the Martina Casiano building (BCMaterials headquarters, in Leioa), will begin at 11:00 am. “Alkaline-Earth Chalcogenide Nanocrystals: Synthesis and Characterization” will be the title of this invited talk.
Pint of Science Festival Bilbao 2024 (May 13-15)
BCMaterials collaborates once again with the Bilbao edition of the Pint of Science science outreach festival. The center also coordinates the event, which will bring 24 talks to four bars in the city between May 13 and 15.

BCMaterials will offer a new invited talk on April 22 with Francisco Fernandes, Associate Professor of the Condensed-Matter Chemistry Lab at the Sorbonne University (France)
